About this campaign

Meet Onyx.

The home he came from was so unsafe, it was set to be condemned. While the other cats were rescued, Onyx was too terrified to come out of hiding. He had been living deep inside the heating ductwork, and rescuers from Baby Jack's Rescue had to cut a hole in the ducts just to reach him.

Onyx and four other cats from the home became known as the “Fab Five.” Once he was safe, healthy, and fully vetted, Onyx was adopted—but his new home lasted only eight days. The trauma from his past had left him with severe PTSD, and he was simply too frightened to adjust. He returned to foster care, where he will now remain permanently.

Despite his fear, there is a loving boy hiding beneath the trauma. During the quiet hours of the night, when the world finally feels safe, Onyx comes out to purr, rub against his foster mom’s face, and soak up the affection he has learned to trust.

Now, this sweet 8-year-old boy needs help once again. Years of dental issues have progressed to the point that Onyx needs a full-mouth extraction, with an estimated cost of $1,800–$2,300. His foster has already paid for his pre-surgical bloodwork and put down a $900 deposit to secure his surgery.

Their goal is to raise at least $1,800 to help give Onyx a pain-free future. After everything he has survived, he deserves to finally feel safe—and comfortable—in the home where he will be loved for the rest of his life.

Please consider donating to help Onyx get the care he desperately needs. Every dollar, no matter the amount, will make a difference for this brave boy.

Onyx had his surgery on Sept. 8th, however, during surgery, the vet called me to let me know that she had found a mass in the back top of his mouth instead of doing a full mouth extraction because she had to remove the mass and send that out for biopsy, which of course was an additional cost she only removed his seven worst teeth. The total bill came to $1304. We got the results yesterday of the biopsy, which is not cancerous surprisingly and so now he will be scheduled for next August for the rest of his teeth to be removed. We do not have an exact estimate for that as that will come during his blood work check up in August 2027, but it will be at least as much as the estimate was for this surgery so $1800-$2300 for the surgery itself and around $300 for the pre-surgical visit and bloodwork. We are starting to raise money now for that upcoming surgery. We are looking to raise a total of 2700 to make sure we have enough to cover everything. I want to thank everyone who has donated so far and would appreciate your continued support. I am very thrilled that he did not have cancer as he has so much more life to live.!
