About this campaign

I got Penelope after falling in love with her sister, Stella Marie. I drove six hours to pick her up, and she's been our littlest best friend ever since. She's full of love and curiosity and loves to play and cuddle. She's also deaf, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying life. My two daughters and I love her so much, and we can't imagine our lives without her.

In just two days, Penelope went from her happy, snuggly self to being unable to use her back legs, stand, or walk. She's now hospitalized at NC State Veterinary Hospital and scheduled for emergency surgery. The surgery is intended to relieve pressure on her spinal cord, reduce the risk of permanent paralysis, and give her the best chance of walking again.

She's the sweetest baby love and is happiest when she's playing with my girls or curled up in someone's lap. Seeing her decline so quickly has been heartbreaking. We're not ready to let Penelope go when she still has so much life left to live. We want so many more happy, healthy years together.

Penelope's emergency surgery and hospital care are expected to cost between $6,000 and $8,000. This is a huge unexpected expense, and we're grateful for any help to get her through this and back home.
