Help Reeshy Get Back on Her Feet

At just seven months old, Reeshy should be running and discovering the world around her. Instead, this young girl is struggling to use her back legs.

Reeshy came into the care of Baw Baw Animal Welfare after falling from a slab earlier this month. Following the accident, it became clear that something was seriously wrong. She was having difficulty walking and struggling to put weight on her hind legs.

A veterinary examination revealed an even greater concern: Reeshy’s reflexes in her back end were extremely weak or absent, indicating that she had suffered an injury to her spinal cord.

For such a young dog, this is a frightening and uncertain diagnosis. Right now, the focus is on giving Reeshy every opportunity to recover and regain as much strength and mobility as possible.

Her veterinary team has started treatment to reduce inflammation around her spinal cord, protect her from infection, and support her nerves as her body begins the healing process. She will need continued care and close monitoring to see how she responds and what the future may hold for her mobility.

Reeshy is only seven months old, and Baw Baw Animal Welfare wants to give her every chance at the long, happy life still ahead of her.
