Shadow Needed Surgery and We Couldn't Turn Our Backs on Him

Just 10 Weeks Old, Shadow Was Facing Euthanasia. He Deserved a Chance.

Shadow was only 10 weeks old when his future was suddenly at risk. After arriving at Dallas Animal Services with a painful fracture in his left hind leg, he was scheduled for euthanasia because of his medical needs. He needed urgent orthopedic surgery, and time was running out.

That's when Trina & Friends K9 Rescue stepped in.

Shadow has a fracture near the growth plate at the lower end of his left femur, the large bone in his thigh. He was unable to put weight on his hind legs, and X-rays confirmed that the injury required surgical repair with an intramedullary pin.

For a puppy this young, getting the right treatment matters. Growth plates are areas of developing bone that help determine how a puppy's legs grow. A fracture in this area requires careful orthopedic treatment because improper healing can lead to ongoing pain, abnormal bone growth, or long-term mobility problems. Shadow needed more than pain medication. He needed surgery to stabilize the fracture and give his leg the best chance to heal properly.

Despite everything, Shadow has already shown the people around him just how sweet he can be. Even while hurting, this little puppy has approached people seeking affection.

Shadow's surgery has now taken place at Family Pet Care in Texas, but the veterinary bills are adding up.

Trina & Friends K9 Rescue has been overwhelmed with medical cases, and every new emergency brings another expense. The rescue wants to keep stepping in for dogs like Shadow, but it cannot continue doing so without support from people who believe these animals deserve a chance.

Will you help us cover the cost of Shadow's orthopedic surgery and medical care?

Your donation will help Trina & Friends K9 Rescue pay for the veterinary treatment Shadow needed to have his fracture repaired and begin his recovery. Every contribution helps ease the burden of his medical expenses and allows the rescue to keep helping other dogs in urgent need.

Shadow was just a tiny puppy facing an unimaginable outcome because he needed medical care. Thanks to rescue, he has been given another chance. Now, we want to help him make the most of it.

Please donate if you can, and share Shadow's story if you're unable to give. Together, we can help this little puppy heal and give him the chance to grow up with the happy, healthy life he deserves. ❤️🐾
