Little Sour Cream may be tiny, but he is already fighting a very big battle.
Sour Cream was brought to Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation for help. He was born with pectus excavatum, a congenital condition that causes the chest and breastbone to become abnormally sunken inward. In severe cases, this can put pressure on the heart and lungs and make it difficult for a kitten to breathe and grow normally.
Today, Sour Cream underwent an important procedure to help correct his chest deformity. His veterinary team added 12 mm to his chest, giving his little body more room and helping move his chest toward a healthier shape.
For such a tiny kitten, this is a huge step.
Now, Sour Cream needs time and careful monitoring as he recovers. Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation is committed to giving him the specialized veterinary care he needs, but procedures like this come with significant medical costs—and the rescue needs our help.

Sour Cream was born with pectus excavatum, a congenital condition that causes the chest and breastbone to become abnormally sunken inward. Because his chest is still developing, he needs specialized veterinary care to help give his little body the best chance possible.
And now, poor little Sour Cream was back at the vet for another important step in his treatment: his chest plate needed to be tightened.
For such a tiny kitten, undergoing procedures like this is a big deal. But Sour Cream is continuing to fight, and his veterinary team is carefully monitoring him as he grows and his chest develops.
