Help Uhtred get ICU monitoring & Surgery for Broken Leg — MA

Uhtred is a very loving, active and fierce little cat. He was found under the hood of a truck over last winter. He was not noticed in the truck until the driver popped the hood to help jump start his friend’s car. Since he survived the car ride and was so strong and a fierce little cat we decided to name him after a main character who was brave and fierce Viking in a popular show on Netflix. He fit right in with our little family and even gets along great with our German Shepherd (although it look Uhtred some convincing on his part). He loves the outdoors and hunting critters in our yard. While he is very tough he is still the sweetest cat and loves to be with his people.

Two days ago, Uhtred was hit by a car and suffered life-threatening injuries. The most critical of his injuries are to his lungs. The trauma to his chest caused a pneumothorax, meaning air became trapped in his chest cavity, making it difficult for his lungs to function properly. He required a thoracocentesis procedure to remove the excess air and relieve the pressure.

Thankfully, the procedure went well, and Uhtred’s latest medical update gave us some encouraging news—his lungs are doing well and responding positively to treatment. We are hopeful and taking his recovery one step at a time. He remains in the ICU at Bay State Emergency Vey, where he is being closely monitored and cared for.

As if that wasn’t enough, Uhtred also suffered a fractured leg that will require surgery once he is stable enough to undergo the procedure. Right now, his lungs remain our biggest concern.

Despite all of his injuries, in true Uhtred fashion, he has lived up to his name and is still fighting for a chance. ❤️ We just want to give him that chance to come home.

His emergency care is quickly becoming very costly, and any donation toward Uhtred’s medical expenses would mean more to us than we can put into words. If you’re unable to donate, sharing his story would also help tremendously.

Please keep our brave little fighter in your thoughts. ❤️🐾

From the moment he came into our lives, he became such a special part of our family. He has brought us so much love, laughter, and personality, and there is something incredibly special about the connection we share with him. He isn’t just our cat—he is family. The thought of losing him is heartbreaking, and seeing him fight so hard makes us want to fight just as hard for him. Having Uhtred recover and come home to us would mean more than we could ever express.

The cost of Uhtred’s emergency care has already become overwhelming. Between his ICU stay, procedures, medications, monitoring, and the surgery he will need once he is stable, his medical expenses continue to grow. We never imagined we would be in a situation like this, but we are doing everything we can to give him the care he needs. Any help with his medical expenses would make a tremendous difference and give Uhtred the best chance possible at coming home
