About this campaign

When I was 16, Winnie came into my life because I needed help. Now I'm 19, and she's the one who needs me.

Winnie is my 3 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. She's gentle, sweet, the best hugger, and “mom” to our foster kittens and puppies.

Having Winnie beside me feels like putting on a fresh from the dryer fluffy blanket.; cozy, comforting, and somehow always smells like flowers.

Winnie was born with femoral varus/torsion, her thigh bone is twisted and misaligned, and luxating patella, her kneecap often pops out of place.

She is on pain meds, but needs three surgical procedures to fix the bone and kneecap.

Distal femoral osteotomy to realign her femur. Trochleoplasty to deepen the kneecap groove. Tibial Tuberosity Transposition (TTT) to secure her shinbone to knee.

Winnie helps everyone she meets. Her hugs relax me when I'm anxious. She let's our tiny kittens grab and crawl over her, keeps them clean, and nudges them back to safety. Gives chase to puppies with the zoomies. She always knows how I'm feeling and acts silly to make me smile. Winnie shows our foster animals patience and love. Winnie takes care of us, and now I want to take care of her.

I'm 19, in college full time, and work part-time at a vet office. I don't make enough to put a dent in Winnie's surgery bill. Without surgery, her condition will get worse. Asking for help isn't easy, but for Winnie, I'll do whatever it takes to take away her pain.
