About this campaign
Wriothesley was found abandoned in a trash can with her siblings at around 3-4 weeks old. Compared to her siblings she was severely underdeveloped only weighing around 100g compared to her siblings who 220g and larger. She was frail, thin, and cold. I honestly didn’t think she was going to survive through the night but she’s strong and determined to live!
The first vet I took her to wanted to put her down. I disagreed and sought out a second opinion. I took her to a Neurologist in Dallas, then finally to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists - Neurology department in Houston. She now has three official diagnoses : meningoencephalocele, hydrocephalus, and cranial cervical syringohydromyelia.
She needs neurosurgery and a VP shunt.
I honestly thought she wouldn’t make it through her first night. I kept her clean, warm, and isolated from the other kittens. I syringe fed her for the first five weeks of her life with me, every 2 hours then every 3 and eventually every 4 hours for weeks. That time together forged a very special bond between us and I knew I would to anything I could to give her the best possible quality of life.
Neurosurgery estimates are nearing 15k. To date I’ve already spend around 6k just to keep her alive and get her to this point of being strong enough for surgical intervention. I’m afraid that without some help, I won’t be able to continue giving her the best chance at life.
