Xena’s story isn't over—she needs your help.

Meet Xena, otherwise known as Minerva. After losing her beloved owner last year, Xena’s life took a heartbreaking turn.

Her owner had kept Xena’s medical records and microchip information up to date—proof that this beautiful girl was once deeply loved and cared for. But after she passed away, Xena was left in someone else’s care. Somehow, she went from being a cherished companion to severely neglected and ultimately abandoned.

Now, Xena is fighting to recover.

She recently had to be rushed to Pinnacle Veterinary Hospital after developing a fever, lethargy, and becoming very ill. Veterinarians believe she may have fluid surrounding her lungs and chest cavity. They don't yet know whether it's a tumor, trauma/bleeding, or heart failure.

Thankfully, her vitals were stable, and she received fluids, antibiotics, and anti-nausea medication to keep her comfortable.

Xena is now home resting with her foster and on medication, and she will be seeing her primary veterinarian for additional testing and answers.

But her medical journey is far from over—and the bills are adding up for Joyner's Furr-eedom Rescue.
