About this campaign
I adopted Hendrick, my 3 month old Labrador/Dalmatian mix, from Wayne County Humane Society on October 17th. After a wonderful first few days with Hendrick (who also goes by Henny!), he became incredibly ill and required 24 hour hospitalization in the ICU. Since October 20th, Hendrick has been at the Avon Lake Animal Clinic where he is recieving around the clock care.
Hendrick is a total sweetheart & immediately fit into our home. We also have a 13 yr. old Chihuahua mix (Marley) and a 2 year old German Shepherd (Bishop). Marley started romping and playing with Hendrick as soon as they met. Bishop usually takes awhile to warm up to new dogs, but she loved Hendrick right away. Bishop and Hendrick became inseparable - spending the days playing and cuddling.
To say this was an unexpected medical expense is an understatement. The shelter where Henny was adopted gave him a clean bill of health and indicated he had his vaccines. Due to the pandemic, my income has been impacted. I desparately want Henny back home with us.
Unfortunately, Hendrick became seriously ill very quickly and was diagnosed with Parvovirus on October 20th. Since then he has been in the ICU at Avon Lake Animal Clinic. At this time we still don't have a clear idea on when Hendrick will be home, but we are hopeful that the care from these great veterinarians will beat this fatal illness. Henny is doing his best to fight through this situation.
While I only had a few days with Henny at home, I can tell you he is incredibly friendly and playful. His favorite game is wrestling with his big sister, Bishop - though chasing Marley is a close second! He also loves chomping on chew toys and attempting to drag Bishop's XL bones into his bed! Everything Henny does makes me smile, especially the way he wags his tail while eating his meals.
