About this campaign
We met Henry at the local shelter. His left rear leg was hurt, an people didn't want to adopt a "defective" dog. But he is so sweet, we couldn't resist him! So we brought him home and took him to our vet. Repairing his hip (he was probably hut by a car) will cost around $3,800, which we need help with. The good news is that the leg does NOT need to be amputated, which we feared at first.
About a year ago, my husband, Scott, lost his best friend and "shadow," Loki, after many years. Scott has been so lonely without a buddy. Henry has taken right to him, and they are rapidly growing closer every day. Ironically, Loki had a freak spinal injury which required months of care and therapy, which Scott provided. Loki remained "gimpy" the rest of his life, but was happy and well cared for.
Henry is friendly to everyone and gets along great with my daughter's and my dogs. But he is especially fond of Scott and sleeps on his pillow. He eats and plays with Scott in his "man cave" and is never alone :)
Henry needs surgery to re-align his left hip. He can not use his left rear leg at all, and is losing muscle tone. The shelter was not able to treat him while he was on a stray hold, and the vet thinks it's been about a month since he was injured. He is being treated at Animal Medical Center of Tuscaloosa by Dr. Hall.
My husband and I are both retired and rely on our social security. My disabled daughter lives with us. We can afford routine medical care for Henry, but this situation is just more than we can cover.
