About this campaign

Quick thinking by a rural Kentucky shelter and One by One Animal Advocates helped save Holly. The shelter staff noticed the puppy could not walk on one of her legs and started looking for help.

"We think she was hit by a car and brought to the animal shelter as a stray," Heather A., with One by One Animal Advocates, tells Waggle. "The shelter does not have a medical budget, so they reached out to us and said, 'We don't have the funds to help her.'" If Holly wasn't rescued, she could have faced economic euthanasia.

Volunteers from One by One Animal Advocates raced Holly to the Proctorville Animal Hospital. X-rays revealed she has a spiral fracture on her distal humerus bone in one of her legs. Holly needs immediate surgery to fix it, and the nonprofit group is trying to raise the money.

When Heather first heard about Holly and her injury, she knew the pup's surgery would push their budget to the brink. "I thought, 'How are we going to afford this? We are drowning in medical cases. How can we keep providing for these animals?' It's often overwhelming, but the Waggle community has helped us so much we can say 'yes' to these animals," Heather says.

The nonprofit group hopes you will help come to Holly's rescue. Once she has the operation, she's expected to recover, be put up for adoption, and live a happy life.
