About this campaign
A Pathway to Hope
Hope’s Home is a rescue and rehabilitation home in Barnegat, NJ, purchased by A Pathway to Hope in 2021, directly utilizing the services of a live-in dog behavior trainer. The rescued dogs and cats are welcomed into Hope’s Home under the care of our dog behavior trainer to enjoy daily life, never knowing they are homeless and seeking a family of their own. They receive daily, intensive training to prepare them for home life, as they learn what it is like to be a beloved member of a pack and a home.
However, Hope's Home doesn't only focus on helping secure homes for the homeless dogs we work to save.– It also supports pet-retention and adoption support to fosters, volunteers, adopters, and the community. Because, at its very core, Hope’s Home is a sanctuary for animals in need AND a resource for our community.
The community we serve is an important part of our behavior trainer’s role with Hope’s Home, ensuring that we are supporting the behavioral needs of dogs rescued, rehabilitated, and adopted out by Pathway, as well as dogs in need within our community. Pack walks, foster training, training classes (both remote and in-person), individual training sessions, and training support calls are an intrinsic part of Hope’s Home and the responsibility of our behavior trainer.
Our goals in working directly with a behavioral trainer to provide support to Pathway dogs and the community are as follows:
1. Offer training sessions to adopters, fosters, and community members in need of dog training support for pet retention and adoption.
2. Reduce the number of returns and improve pet retention.
3. Provide consistent training support to homeless dogs in efforts to find them forever homes.
4. Provide volunteer and foster training opportunities to ensure that all volunteers and fosters are providing consistent training support to the animals they are caring for.
5. Provide training support through training classes, individual training sessions, and consultation calls to community members and adopters to ensure pet retention.
6. Provide post-adoption support, including training classes, individual training sessions as needed, training consult calls and pack walk opportunities, to all Pathway adopters to safeguard adoption success.
Bridget Gallagher, Dog Behavior Trainer, is a trainer, volunteer, foster and adopter who has dedicated her life to dog behavior training and rescue. She has trained for Pathway for 15 years and welcomed some of Pathway’s most difficult dogs and cats into her home and family through hard work, dedication, and love. Bridget has committed to living and working with Pathway’s adoptable dogs within Hope’s Home.
