Hope is a 2 month old Great Pyrenees in Weatherford , TX, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Repair of a Cleft Palate.

Hope was part of a liter of 12 puppies our Great Pyrenees. She was the runt of the litter and we started seeing that we had difficulty in bottle feeding her. At first, the vet told us that he thought she was just the runt but at 7 weeks, the vet finally saw that she was born with a cleft palate way in the back of the roof of her mouth. He has told us surgery is the only option we have.

Once the vet discovered the cleft, he told us that the only option is a repair or we would have to put her down or that she would eventually deteriorate over time and would not be able to sustain food to keep her alive and thriving.

Hope is very special to us, but especially our special needs daughter. Our daughter was also born with a cleft palate and several other medical issues. She has told us that she wants to keep Hope because it reminds her of the difficulties she went through as a child and that they can share that common bond. Our daughter has already developed a special bond with Hope.

We did not expect this complication to come up when the puppies were born. It took us off guard and not in a position to deal with the extra finance. We run a therapeutic riding stable for disabled kids and adults and our Pyrenees are loved by all our riders.
