Hugo is a 1-year-old Chihuahua Pug Mix in Waterford, CT, who needs $2,000 for Enterotomy/Gastrotomy.

We adopted Hugo from Paw Safe rescue last May, he was 8weeks old and 3lbs. We instantly fell in love when we met him. He is a HUGE part of our day. He is always super happy to greet anyone who walks through our doors into the house, however outside he mistakes his size for a big dog protecter. He is always right where we are, knows when it’s bed time and beats you to the bed first. He is boss!

Hugo is a licker! You know he instantly loves you and tries to give kisses any chance he gets. He throws you a look in an instant that makes you question who’s really in charge. He loves playing and will often pick up his toys jump on the couch or wherever we are and put them in our hand, throw or nudge our way to let us know it’s play time! He especially thinks our son is his super fun playmate.

Hugo Carrie’s expressions like he understands everything we say. He loves “outside”, “walk” even though his favorite walks are only about 30 feet and he’s ready to go back to the yard or house. He loves running and playing outside around where we are. Like all dogs he carries a little mischief but then looks at us with those big eyes and floppy ears and is truly just the best little companion.

After a bit of intermittent vomiting around eating we tried to figure out the cause. Allergies, worms, food sensitivities, none of the above. He stopped eating and refused food even his favorite treats.After an X-ray revealed he had a blockage that needed immediate attention and had to have surgery we found the cause for vomiting and refusal to eat. Hugo needed the blockage removed immediately.

This is an extremely physical & emotionally overwhelming situation. Hugo needed surgery or could die doesn’t leave anyone much choice . The the cost of Vet care and now emergency car and surgery, we are in desperate need for financial support to help with hospital fees.
