About this campaign
We found Ike four years ago, after finally deciding to open our home to another dog following the death of our first greyhound. We fell in love with his brother when we went to pick him up. So, Ike and Odi became a part of our family. They have been inseparable since. Ike and his brother love to cuddle and go hiking with the family. They love car rides and camping.
Ike was diagnosed on September 27, 2025, with IMHA, a severe blood disorder in dogs where the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys red blood cells, leading to anemia. He had blood tests the next two days and was hospitalized when his hematocrit was critically low. He has had 2 blood transfusions in vet critical care and is on immunosuppressants. He is the darling of the hospital.
Ike is the sweetest boy. He has to give his consent for pets and will let you know if he wants "uppies" - what we call holding him. He loves it when you ask him if he wants scratches. He will not come to you if he does not want them. He bonded with his littermate, Odi. He is the bigger of the two boys. He is very calm until separated from us, and he has been in the hospital for 2 days now
The care Ike needs is extensive. He requires ICU and internal med vets. He has had two blood transfusions and may need more to get his red blood cells back to the normal range. We have exceeded our spending abilities.
