About this campaign

Miles was more than 2 hours away from our shelter, One by One Animal Advocates in West Virginia when we received a call for help.

He had been spotted with a large, rusted animal trap on his front leg. It was hard for him to move, but he managed to hide under a house for shelter. Miles must have been so terrified, confused, and in a tremendous amount of pain.

After several attempts to catch him - his rescuer bought a trap, placed it under the house and monitored it all throughout the night. She finally caught him around 3a.m and removed the trap from his leg.

This can be dangerous because it releases toxins that could cause sepsis, but she was doing the best she could for him.

In the morning, Miles was rushed to the emergency vet. The vets said his poor leg was mauled beyond repair. It had been crushed to pieces.

To prevent further infection and give him immediate relief from pain, his leg needed to be amputated as soon as possible. We did not take a picture of his mangled leg because it was too gruesome.

Miles is only 2 years old and may have been a loved member of a family. We have no idea how long he had been wandering around or hiding with his leg stuck in an animal trap. We can’t imagine the pain he endured because of someone’s negligence.

He would not be with us today, if it weren't for the concerned citizen who cared enough to trap him and reach out for help.

We are so thankful that he was found and will never have to live outside or fend for himself again. Please consider contributing towards his medical care and surgery. We are a small non-profit that fully relies on support from generous people like you. Thank you!
