About this campaign

Isa was born on May 31st, 2017 and is now six years old. Isa is a spunky and adventurous, black English lab. My partner, Ellie, got Isa when she was just a few months old from Wild Rose Kennels in Oxford, Mississippi. This is where she went through obedience training, as she is a diabetic alert dog.

Isa is often mistaken for a puppy due to her high energy and young spirit. She lives with my partner and I in an apartment in Brentwood, TN. Despite living in an apartment, we often go on long walks. There are many trees and open grass fields surrounding us where we can take her off leash. She loves swimming, playing with toys, and sniffing new smells.

Isa is extra special due to her service dog training. My partner, Ellie, has type one diabetes. This is not an easy disease to live with, but over the past six years, Isa has made it much easier. Isa is trained to smell Ellie's blood sugar and alert them when their levels are too low or high. She has saved Ellie from diabetic shock/seizure multiple times.

Our family veterinarian at Animal Ark, found a mass in Isa's throat. After visiting a veterinary oncologist at Blue Pearl, through an ultrasound and cytology aspirates, we learned Isa had developed an ectopic thyroid tumor. Due to the tumor's irregular location, we are unable to surgically remove it. We are now seeking treatment at LSU Vet Teaching Hospital with vet oncologist, Jayme Looper.

Due to my partner and I being 23 and 22, we do not have a lot of savings. I just graduated from college in May, and at that time my partner and I were both unemployed. I gained employment in June, but my partner was not employed, with a sustainable income, until a month ago.
