About this campaign
Ivy is a true UF gator! She was born in the swamp as a UF research dog, where she was wonderfully and lovingly raised. When she retired, she started giving back to the gator community as a regular blood donor since early 2021. She is an integral part of our family, which includes Freyja (Anatolian shepherd mix) and JR (Ruud/Munguia human mix).
Ivy was recently diagnosed with cerebellopontine tumor (cerebellar meningioma). The tumor created a lot pressure and fluid buildup in her brain. She had a head tilt, wasn’t eating, and moving. She was diagnosed and will be treated by the amazing staff at University of Florida (UF) Veterinary Hospitals. She will be going through definitive radiation therapy for a month to reduce her tumor size.
There is a reason I refer to Ivy as My Sweet Golden Princess. She wholeheartedly believes that all humans are put on this earth to pet and spoil her with attention. Every night she loves starting “fights” with her big sister Freyja, and Freyja thoroughly enjoys playing with her little sister. Ivy has overcome her fear of doorways and is now so brazen, she steals food from her little brother, JR.
When Ivy’s head tilt started, we never imagined we’d spend ~$2300 on diagnostics and over $9000 on treatment. These expenses are a heavy burden for any family, especially one with a 2-year-old in daycare. We want to give Ivy a 2nd chance to continue her special bond with JR.
