About this campaign

Izumi was a rescue from central Florida. She was found with her litter of four kittens behind a dumpster. Izumi waited a stressful 6 months before we found each other. Izumi has thrived since being adopted, loving living as a solo cat with me. She is the world’s best lap cat and her happy place is sitting in a lap all day. Izumi is named after an obscure character from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Izumi’s medical issues started last week when she was diagnosed with acute kidney failure. At this point, after days of hospitalization, supportive care, and testing, we know that she has been suffering from kidney stones. Izumi required surgery to address these kidney issues, and now ventilation because of secondary lung damage. She has been fighting so hard but still perks up when I visit.

Izumi is the sweetest kitty. She is easily spooked by new people but LOVES them once she gets acquainted. She wants nothing more than to cuddle in a lap all day and will herd you like a sheepdog to sit on the couch by meowing at you. At night she loves laying on my belly until I fall asleep before "hunting" for hair ties in the night and bringing them to me in the morning.

I have been unemployed but applying for jobs the past several months despite a STEM degree. Izumi is my first cat, and I've never known the unconditional love of an animal until her. I was able to pay 50% of her surgery. It would mean the world to have financial support.
