About this campaign

Jack was 6 weeks old, alone in the shelter. He was only to stay with our family until he was old enough to be neutered- that was 11 years ago. Jack decided I was his person and he has loved me fiercely since day one. It would not be exaggerating to say he has saved my life- from career changes, grad school, covid, and the loss of my mom, my little beagle has always been right by my side.

I had to buy a bigger bed because he likes to sleep perpendicular to me at night. Furniture is placed by windows so he can enjoy the view (and yell at the squirrels!). There is nothing he loves more than running in the woods with his cousin, Mellow, taking in all the smells. It can only be made better if he can find a really stinky mud puddle to roll in. He has shaped my life and I love it.

No one could ever describe Jack as quiet. From his loud howls, to mischievous rumblings and his cries of delight- he always has something to say! He loves people (almost as much as he loves food!) and greets everyone excitedly every time he sees a familiar friend, his doting grandparents, or a friendly neighbor that just said 'hi' to him once before.

Jack has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer (apocrine gland adenocarcinoma of the anal sac ). His best chance is surgery, possibly radiation or chemotherapy, and will need regular check-ups to ensure it doesn't return.

Like many in my generation, I have worked hard every day of my adult life but still live paycheck-to-paycheck. With student loans, rising costs of living, and stagnant wages- even my modest lifestyle isn't sustainable and defiantly can't cover the costs of cancer care.
