Jack is a 5-year-old Chihuahua in Washington, DC, who needs $1,000 for Anal Sac Removal.

Jack and I found each other in September of 2019. I was keeping an eye on a shelter in Fairfax and he popped up one day and I just knew he was the one! His background prior to our home is unknown but the little guy was soooo skittish, but through lots of love and socializing on our walks through dc, Jack has become an excitable little social butterfly.

Jack is like a person. We can communicate with just a look. He goes everywhere I go. At night, he sleeps almost underneath my head haha! I make him clothes and when it’s just us, sometimes I even turn to him for some good advice (even if it’s just some zoomies and a belly rub). Recently, Jack has taken on hiking at Rock Creek Park and boy, is he quite the hiker!

I lost my job around the time of the start of the COVID crisis, have not received a stimulus payment or a tax refund, and have not been able to collect unemployment benefits. Jack means the world to me and I can’t risk this going untreated or him developing an infection.

This morning, Jack started to lick at his rear end a bit, and unfortunately it didn’t strike me as odd until about an hour later when we were taking one of our walks and he seemed more anxious than usual...After his poops it seems like he was in pain and upon further examination, Jack has developed an abscess around his anal glands, which he will need antibiotics to treat.

Lately, we’ve been focused on making new friends. Jack gets a little over excited and protective around boy dogs still, but I think we’ve finally gotten over the fear of lady dogs!! Jack NEVER barks, he doesn’t really like toys, but cuddling is his hot spot. He’s just the best companion I could ever have hoped for.
