Jasper is a 6-year-old Great Dane in Lawrence , KS, who needs $2,000 for Nephrectomy-Surgical Removal of One Kidney.

Jasper is the best dog! He lives at home with myself and my son. He’s been part of our family since he was 7wks old, 11lbs. He sleeps in bed, under the blankets as he is loved like a kid! He is such an integral part of everyday life for us. He’s our good morning and goodnight every single day. His love is obvious and he is the best part of everyday.

Jasper shares my bed. And pillows. And blankets. He loves car rides, chasing bunnies and he is sure one day he will catch a squirrel that tease him on the fence posts. He greets my son and I at the door, with a toy, no matter how long it’s been since we left. He lives for treats and whatever “snack” or taste he can wrangle from you with his “talking” and drool! He loves his family beyond words.

Jasper has been a source of strength thru the unexpected death of my husband almost 5 years ago. He’s lazy enough to just snuggle you when needed and loves to do “zoomies” in the yard. He loves like he can read your mind and will always bring you a slobbered up toy to cheer you up! He’s everywhere I go-so attached that he takes meds for separation anxiety.

Jasper has been in A-1 health til the last month. On 2-1-2024 he was diagnosed with a very large, rapid growing kidney tumor. Dr. Amend at Wakarusa Vet in Lawrence KS broke the news. His prognosis is good WITH a nephrectomy. This could add a possible 2-3 years of pain free life for him, and us to make more memories with him. Without it; it’s palliative care with less than 6 mo of life left.

The cost is $4500-6000. Unrealistic to come up with within 2 weeks! I have spent $1480 in the last 3 weeks for this heartbreaking diagnosis. Please help give him the extra years he deserves and allow us the love and companionship of our best buddy, and our source is strength
