Jasper is a 12-year-old Schnauzer/Chihuahua in MCKINNEY, TX, who needs $2,000 for Cataract Surgery.

Jasper was born in February 2008. I got him through a coworker who's Schanzer mixed it up with Chihuahua/Pomeranian. So Jasper is a mix of these breeds which makes him a bit unique. I brought him home in April 2008 as my second dog. The first dog is actually his stepbrother from a different mother. Don't ask, long story.

Jasper usually sleeps on the floor in the entryway of our bedroom as if he's guarding the door. He's a very loyal dog not losing sight of his fur parents. No matter where you're at, Jasper is there to keep an eye on things. When outside, he stays in the yard so we really don't need a leash on him. He's friendly to all. Great with small kids.

As most pet owners know that cataract surgery is not cheap. Our finances cannot support this surgery due to the hit we're taking from Covid-19 as my employer has reduced my hours until further notice. The sooner the surgery, the better the outcome for Jasper. Please help us.

Jasper was born with a heart murmur but generally is a normal healthy energetic dog. Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with diabetes last March. By May he developed full-blown cataracts. Because of this, his personality has changed a bit and he's now bumping into things trying to navigate his way around. His perky personality has been subdued a bit as he cannot see images, only light.

Jasper is a bit of a clown. At times he'll chase you around the house or chases his brother when the mood strikes him. He gets very excited when it's mealtime,(like most dogs), but does his little circular dance and barks with excitement. When walking, rabbits beware cuz Jasper will chase you down. Likes to play "Hide & Seek" with us.
