Java is a 8-year-old Lab Pitbull Mix in Honolulu, HI, who needs $2,000 for CHOP- Chemotherapy.

I have had my dog Java since he was about 2 months old. He was in a local pet shop that only sold "mutts". I had recently moved to Hawaii, and had always wanted a dog of my own. The reason that I named him Java is because of his beautiful brindle coat, and Honey colored eyes. I also really love coffee. We currently live in a temporary rental that is only available for 3 months.

Java is absolutely lovely, loyal, and fierce. He is extremely friendly to people he knows like friends and family members. However, if a stranger - usually male- approaches me in a strange manner, he can become protective. He is playful, and loves belly rubs and playing with other dogs. He sleeps in bed with me, and he is a great protector of the household. He is sweet & friendly.

He is a wonderful companion! He is happy to sleep in when I want to sleep in, or go for a long walk if that is what is going on. He loves to be included in all activities. He sometimes has a super loud snore, but does not kick! He loves begging for a blueberry waffle, and loves going on car rides near the ocean. He enjoys romping in the sand, and chasing birds. He also joins me in the ocean.

Java was diagnosed with a treatable form of Lymphoma. His cancer went into remission for over 2 years! His lymphoma is back, and he needs life-saving chemotherapy. He is being treated by an oncologist at VERC Animal Clinic. The oncologists rotate, so there are more than 1. I do not have insurance to cover the thousands of dollars in treatment that is required for his chemotherapy treatments.

I was hired full-time by a local garage door company. However, when Java was diagnosed with cancer, I informed my employer that I would need to go to weekly chemo appointments, and they informed me that I was not eligible to do so. He is my best friend- I love him dearly.
