For my 17th birthday, I chose to adopt Jazz. It’s been 15 years, and no other gift has come close. Any sorrow I’d suffered was lessened whenever I saw her guarding my bed or joining me on my morning routine. Though her legal name is Jazz, we’ve only called her Fatness; she’s always had a chubby tummy that dwarfed her tiny head and delicate little paws.

Recently, she’s gone from Fatness to Thinness; losing weight, fast. We took her to the vet and discovered she had hyperthyroidism, a condition which would cost $3.7k+ to cure. I can’t lose her, I just can’t. Anything helps 💖

She’s OBSESSED with feet—socks, shoes, bare, they’re all equal in her barely-blinking eyes; she’ll trip you down the stairs in her demand for foot rubs. Her other hobbies include watching YouTube videos with alarming intensity, carrying around her toy dog whilst meowing like she’s slayed a beast, and licking my face at 2 a.m. for more foot rubs.

I work minimum wage and my mother receives one social security check a month; but we love our Fatness so, so much. Even if we can’t get enough raised, I’ll find a way. For her.
