About this campaign

In 2010, I adopted Jelly Bean from an animal shelter in Austin, Texas. It was love at first sight. She was a very well-behaved cat from Day One: she always used her litter box, she never scratched the furniture, she let me put my arms around her as I fell asleep, and she always greeted me when I came home from work.

In 2012, I became disabled (seizure disorder and an assortment of mental illnesses), so was no longer able to work. I lost everything but still had my Jelly Bean.

In 2014, we moved to Minnesota, as I needed to be closer to family and in a state with better healthcare. Poor Jelly Bean had to endure a 17-hour drive and an overnight stay in a crappy motel in Oklahoma, but we made it!

Jelly Bean is a legitimate emotional support animal (ESA) - she is actually listed on my apartment lease as such. As my ESA, Jelly Bean is more than a pet, she is a companion who helps me cope with petit mal seizures, anxiety, and depression. She handles her role like a pro! FYI: An ESA is not the same as a service animal.

A routine veterinarian visit revealed Jelly Bean is in dire need of dental surgery to extract at least four teeth. Due to the pain, she is not eating as much as she normally does and has already begun losing weight. I am working with Banfield Pet Hospital in Savage, Minnesota to get Jelly Bean the care she needs so we can enjoy many more years together.

My only source of income is Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) at a net of $2017 per month. Due to inflation (food, gas, utilities, insurance, etc.), a new prescription, and my apartment rent increasing by $100 per month, I am forced to ask for financial assistance.
