About this campaign
I adopted JJ from Austin Pets Alive in May 2013, I worked there as a dog counselor. I had adopted Starr first. I was assigned light medical duties like administering vaccinations and Starr was the first animal I vaccinated. I was so nervous but she was so good. Right after I stuck her she licked me on my cheek, I took her home that day. I had just gotten my dad off the streets and Starr kept him company and eased his PTSD, he was a helicopter medic in the Vietnam war. About 6 months later he disappeared and I worked three 14hr days a week and had no one to care for Starr with him gone. My friend Jamie moved in but he worked nights and slept all day so Starr was bored. I was taking training classes at work and was allowed to pick a dog. I chose JJ because she had a lot of resource guarding notes that were keeping her from getting adopted and I believed she was much younger than she was listed as and that the resource guarding was actually normal bored puppy behavior. After she wowed Mike (head of behavior) I was able to get her age lowered and notes removed.i couldn't get her off my mind and so a couple days later I had Jamie bring Starr to do a meet and greet, they instantly connected as if they had been missing each other. They are sisters in every sense. JJ admires Starr and Starr looks after JJ. JJ and I are super close and she thanks me everyday for sticking up for her and bringing her home.
