About this campaign
We met our puppy through the Foster Tales classroom puppy program, where children helped care for the rescue pups and read to them each day. After fostering him several times, he became part of our hearts and family. When we heard someone else wanted to adopt him, we knew we couldn't let him go. His name was inspired by the Kentucky Derby. He had 3 other litter mates named, Derby, Winnie, & Julep.
Jockey is being treated at Red Lion Veterinary Hospital after being diagnosed with bilateral cranial cruciate disease in both knees. Our once playful puppy is now struggling to walk without pain. He needs orthopedic surgery to run, play, and live comfortably again. We are doing everything we can to give him the healthy future he deserves.
Jockey isn't just our dog-he is family. He's our snuggle bug who always finds his way next to us on the couch. The moment he hears "peanut butter" or "cheese" he comes running. He loves walks and being by our side, and watching him unable to do the things he loves has been heartbreaking. He truly completes our home.
We do not have pet insurance or savings set aside for an emergency of this magnitude. Each of Jockey's knees requires surgery costing $4600 each with a 12-week recovery for each procedure. The total cost is overwhelming, but we are committed to helping him get pain-free.
