Joey Bones is a 2-year-old Bull Terrier in San Antonio, TX, who needs $824 for hip surgery.

Joey Bones sat in one of the most crowded animal shelters in the country. It routinely kills hundreds of dogs just for space reasons.

Kaz S. with Golden Horn's K9 Rescue spotted Joey Bones and sent his picture to his friend Patrick, who went straight to the shelter and took Joey home -- saving his life!

But Joey limped out of the animal control facility, hobbling on three legs.

"Joey was likely hit by a car," Kaz tells Waggle. "Patrick took him to the pet hospital. Sadly, Joey's hip ball joint is half gone, and his femur is splintered into two pieces. He never puts weight on his broken leg. It just hangs."

Joey needs complex surgery to patch his leg together.
