About this campaign
We got Joey when he was just a two pound puppy from a family whose dog had puppies and fell in love with him right away. Living with me, my siblings, parents, and our cat Tom, there's never a dull moment in the house. Although Joey and Tom don't always get along, you can always find them both sleeping next to each other by the heater.
Joey is an endless ball of energy, from hanging out in the backyard with us to playing with his ball all day until it gets stuck under the couch where he cries until we grab it for him. He's always down for a walk, and loves hikes. His favorite spot to hike is in Pacifica by the water. We know when he's tired, because he sits down, won't move and has his tongue out.
Joey's health is everything to us, but with my personal health issues after my transplant, and my family's business suffering a lot due to COVID, we are having hard time affording his medical bills.
Around three years old, Joey started to develop cataracts in both his eyes. It was mild at first and we couldn't afford surgery so we waited. But, quickly, within a few months they progressed and now his eyes are in danger due to increased pressure and inflammation, and cataract surgery is our baby Joey's only hope to keep his eyes. He is being treated at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
Joey is one shy dog at first, but with a few treat, especially chicken, you'll win his heart in no time. He makes all of us laugh when we try to teach him a new trick but he only knows how to do "paw." So, no matter what trick you're trying to teach him, he will stick his paw out again and again regardless. And when he gets scared of fireworks, he knows exactly to run to me and I'll hold him.
