About this campaign

I live alone and while I was still working, I rescued older dogs to give them a loving last chapter of life. Josie's 10 yrs old and has been in pretty good health for the past two years. I retired in 2024 and income is now drastically reduced. She has teeth that are rotting and have caused an infection in her gums, in addition to her having Lyme disease.

Josie's oral surgery and subsequent antibiotics are likely to give me more healthy years with her. Also, being low to the ground and walking with her nose to the ground, she had a tick give her Lyme disease for which she is taking medication. She is being treated at Shohola Veterinary Hospital.

She is my snuggle buddy. Between carrying her "lovey" on walks and chasing stuffed animals down the hall, she lights up my days. No matter what room I'm in, she's usually with me (hoping for food to fall from the countertops or table when we are in the kitchen, of course!) She's afraid of thunder and needs to sit in my lap/sleep with me during storms. She loves her sister, Tenille, a lab who's 12.

Unfortunately, the cost of her treatment is estimated to be between $2100 and $3800. Being on a limited, fixed income (Social Security) with an exhausted emergency fund, I don't have the financial ability to get her the care she needs.
