About this campaign
Julius is a 130 lb altered male, harlequin Great Dane that we rescued from the Humane Society of Fulton County, in Canton, Illinois. He had been abused by some teenage boys and surrendered after he growled when they tried to ride him as a horse. Julius will be 4 years old on July 8. We adopted him in September, 2023.
Julius and Rosie, our other Great Dane, share a couch in our living room. He used to get the zoomies and enjoy playing outdoors, but since he's been sick, he hasn't had the energy to bounce off the couch. He is food motivated, but has learned to control it along with learning how to alert when he needs to go outside. He also has separation issues, but I work from home and my husband is retired.
We arranged a meeting with Rosie, our 10-year-old Great Dane, and they became best buddies. That's why we sometimes call him "Buddy." Julius has a favorite dog blankie, that he suckles when relaxing. If we throw it over his head (especially when it's right out of the dryer), he melts into a puddle. He will snatch a sandwich before you blink. She loves to play with my silly husband.
Rosie was recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and she is not recovering. Today, they did an ultrasound and found nodules on her liver. We cannot afford the treatment to biopsy the nodes, and all the veterinary care needed to find out what's next. Our veterinarian is the amazing Dr. Karen Blakely at All Pets Veterinary Clinic in Macomb, Illinois.
I work from home, and Nick is retired. We live paycheck to paycheck and took a couple of unexpected hits with a $300 bill for Rosie in February, a $600 bill for Julius for the Lyme Disease, and now to get the biopsy, we need $777.00.
