About this campaign

Meet Junie! Junie presented to Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital with a concern of ingesting a fish hook. The finder stated that they found him running down the street with a fishing pole. Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital started with radiographs and there was a fish hook. It was stuck in his esophagus!!! Junie needed a rescue to commit to his care as he presented as a stray.

This bright eyed puppy is actually in a ton of pain and was at risk of being euthanized if a rescue was not able to step to save his life. He is only 4 months old and has had a fish hook lodged in his esophagus for over 24 hours. Junie was just out and exploring like puppies do and had no idea what he was getting himself into.

Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary stepped up initially for stabilization until another rescue was able to take him on. Stray Rescue of St. Louis ended up taking this baby in under their rescue. The doctor at Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Wichita tried to remove the fishhook with an endoscope (which has a camera & retrieval devices) but was not successful in retrieving it.

Due to this Junie then required to have emergency surgery. This is would be a procedure that most veterinarians would not attempt. However, everyone was going to continue to fight for Junie. Everyone worked together to figure out how to transport and a specialist that was comfortable with performing this procedure.

This will be a huge task but nothing we can't accomplish if we all work together. Please please help donate and share her story. Rescues are only able to continue to help save lives with the help of donors.
