Kai is a 5-month-old Miniature Australian Shepherd in Olympia, WA, who needs $2,000 for Supportive Care & Medications.

Kai has been with us since late March (he was born January 6th). From the moment we met him, we fell in love with him. He came from an AKC breeder who has been showing them for over 20-25 years, so he is young, but has always been extremely healthy. He's been a part of our family now for just under two months, and follows his human mom wherever she goes.

Kai is a loved member of our family, and we would do anything for him. He gives him mom the emotional support she needs, but he's also our son. He makes our family whole, and all of his furry siblings miss him terribly since he's been in the hospital. Mom and dad can't wait for him to heal from this ordeal and come home.

Kai is so unique in so many ways. He's extremely loyal, and likely the smartest pup we've ever met (almost too smart for his own good). He's extremely vocal and has his own way of communicating, which we've started picking up on. His goofy attitude always makes us laugh and smile. Our favorite trait about him is that he gives just as much love as he gets. He loves people.

On May 16th, Kai was struck by a hit and run driver at full speed (roughly 40 mph). We immediately rushed him to the nearest emergency vet that could take him, and he has been in the ICU since. He sustained severe pulmonary contusions, and has required round the clock supportive care (fluids, pain medications, blood pressure medications, oxygen).

So far we've paid roughly $13,000, with much more needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as Kai is our world. We would give anything to help him heal and have him home again.
