About this campaign

Before Kai, I adopted Rue, from the same rescue three years prior. We live in California, where I work full-time, and I’ve always prioritized creating a safe, nurturing environment for my pets. They have a cozy space indoors and enjoy regular walks and playtime. Despite being a small dog, Kai has always had a lot of energy! he loves to jump on the couch, chase toys, and cuddle on my lap.

3 days ago,I noticed Kai limping, then lifting his back left leg off the ground.I thought it a minor injury, but took him to Rancho Pet Hospital. His vet diagnosed him with a luxating patella, where the knee cap dislocates from the joint. Unfortunately, Kai’s case is serious, it’s a Grade 3 luxation, meaning the knee dislocates frequently and lead to a torn ACL. Only surgery can fix the issue.

Kai has a huge personality in his tiny 6-pound frame. He’s playful, affectionate, and loves being by my side (even in the bathroom). He’s my shadow, following me everywhere and cuddling whenever he gets the chance. With his sweet nature and curious spirit, Kai brings endless joy to my home. He’s also incredibly gentle and loving with Rue, my other rescue pup, making them the perfect duo.

Kai needs a $4,800 surgery for his knee to prevent pain and long-term damage. I’ve been denied loans & CareCredit, leaving me unable to afford it alone. Getting Kai healthy again means everything,he’s family, and I just want to give him the pain-free, happy life he deserves.
