About this campaign
After reading his story on Facebook, our family made the decision to adopt Kaiser, (formerly named Axel, (and Stark) by the Rhea County Animal Shelter), over Christmas weekend. Only being 8 months old Kaiser has fought to survive and we felt led to give him the opportunity to live a life with a family that will love him unconditionally.
For a dog that literally fought to keep his leg and has had to heal from multiple gunshot wounds he shows no animosity towards people. He loves everybody he meets. He loves people and he loves to play.
Kaiser never wants to be alone. He follows us (primarily his new mom) from room to room. He loves to tug on her cloths to get her attention and get petted.
A week after adoption Kaiser developed an infection in his leg. X-rays show the bullet is still lodged with multiple metal and bone fragments. Kaiser is undergoing surgery at UT Vet to remove the infection, bullet, and the other fragments. There is a possibility he will also need a bone graft. He will likely need ongoing therapy to ensure he can keep his leg. Total cost will be close to $7000.
We love Kaiser but we were not expecting such a huge expense, a week into adoption. We are asking if other animals lovers would share their love, and help our family cover the cost of Kaiser’s surgery
