Kala is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Fairfax, VA, who needs $2,000 for Surgery to Remove Kidney Stones.

Kanani rescued Kalā from KARES in Hawaii while they were having an adoption event at Petco in Kailua-Kona. An avid dog lover she instantly fell in love with Kalā and would not go home without him. He was estimated to be four months old at the time and she was 12. Up to that day she always said she did not like cats. Today she is 18 and also has a one year pup, Moku.

Kalā needs surgery for kidney stones. A life threatening illness for cats. He is scheduled for surgery on August 2, 2024 at Harmony Animal Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. Kanani works hard and learns every day about taking care of animals and training. She has a savings account just for her pets that she uses for their daily care, toys, and regular vet appointments. Yet, she was not prepared.

Kalā came from an abusive home when Kanani rescued him. He was timid and afraid on everything. Kanani was also abused and I believe they rescued each other. While neither of them will interact with others they are always together and happy. He has pulled her out of dark places.

I am a single divorced mother and recently moved and changed jobs. I cannot help Kanani. Kanani has her own savings account that she keeps solely for caring for her puppy and Kalā but has been deleted because of this illness. The emergency appointment was $700.
