3/28/26 Update

We’re happy to share that Kali is recovering well. This sweet senior girl is finally getting the comfort and care she has needed for so long. Because of her age, healing takes time — what might resolve quickly in a younger dog can take weeks or even months for Kali. But she is making steady, encouraging progress.

Kali continues to receive regular medicated baths to soothe her skin, along with medications to treat her demodex and malasseziosis. She’s also enjoying special, nutritious food to support her immune system and overall health. Each day, these treatments are helping reduce her discomfort and giving her body the chance to heal.

True to her gentle nature, Kali spends much of her time resting. She loves her naps and is finally able to relax in a safe, peaceful environment where she isn’t battling constant irritation. Watching her settle in comfortably and simply enjoy quiet moments is a beautiful reminder of why her care matters so much.

While Kali is improving, her journey isn’t over yet. Senior dogs like her need consistent treatment, ongoing monitoring, and supportive care to continue healing and maintain comfort. 4/7/26 Update

Kali’s recovery is continuing, and while progress is slow, she is moving in the right direction. This gentle senior girl is still receiving her regular medicated baths, medications, and supportive care, and each week we see small improvements in her skin and overall comfort. However, Kali is now facing another challenge — the intense heat. Temperatures have already reached 95–100°F, and peak summer is still ahead. For a senior dog with sensitive, healing skin, the heat and humidity can make recovery even more difficult. It can increase irritation, slow healing, and leave her feeling drained.

Despite this, Kali remains the quiet, resilient soul we’ve come to love. She spends most of her days resting peacefully, enjoying long naps, and finally experiencing the calm and safety she deserves. But the heat makes comfort harder, and we are doing everything we can to keep her cool while she continues healing.

Kali still requires ongoing care, including medicated baths, medications, specialized nutrition, and regular monitoring. Because she is a senior, her healing will take time and consistency. These treatments are essential to reduce her discomfort and help her skin recover.

We are so grateful to share that Kali continues to make slow but steady progress. As a senior dog, her recovery was never going to be quick, but thanks to ongoing medicated baths, medication, good nutrition, and consistent sanctuary care, Kali’s skin is improving and she is far more comfortable than when she first arrived.

This gentle girl spends most of her days doing what she loves best — resting peacefully, taking long naps, and enjoying the safety and quiet she was missing for so long.

One challenge we are continuing to navigate is the intense summer heat. Temperatures have already reached 95–100°F, and with peak summer still ahead, the heat can make healing especially difficult for senior dogs with sensitive skin. To help keep Kali comfortable, funds from this campaign are also helping us work toward misting coolers and portable air conditioners to give her — and other vulnerable sanctuary dogs — relief from the exhausting temperatures.
