We rescued Kap on 6/3/26. Kap is a Cockapoo, the rescue had their vet give him vaccines and check his eye health on 6/2/26. We were told that he had no eye issues. At home on 6/3/26 he ran into several objects outside and inside the house. l read on the Internet about one eye condition could cause blindness in 24-48hr. I called the or an appt on 6/4/26 to have his eyes checked. He had cataracts

Kap has cataracts in both eyes. The surgery is estimated to be 5,400-5,800. I purchased pet medical insurance on 6/3/26 but it has a 30 waiting period. Because I was so concerned about his sight and took him to the vet on 6/4/26, this is considered pre-existing and not covered.

He is a very sweet boy, very smart and has quickly learned the invisible fence boundaries and furniture placement. He was up for adoption because his human mother had passed away from cancer. The family member taking care of him was not a good provider and locked him in a shed.
