About this campaign
Kaya first came into our lives back in September 2014. She was my dream dog with an all-white coat with striking blue eyes. She is perfectly behaved and gentle. I should have named her “Princess”! I gave her a sled dog/Inuit name: Kaya, meaning “mountain”. She’s been the best family dog for our six children who love her as much as she loves them. We’ve made so many good memories with her.
We would like Kaya to have the enucleation surgery from her vet, Laughery Valley Veterinary, so that she can live a happier, pain-free life. On April 23, 2024, the Animal Eye Institute in Cincinnati diagnosed her with glaucoma and blind in her left eye. Due to pain, they recommended enucleation. The pain she suffers breaks my heart. We’d really like to have our happy dog back.
Kaya is special because she is a naturally, well-behaved dog. When she lays on the ground she always crosses her front paws and looks at you like she’s a princess. She’s been so loving to our six children, even our brute boy who liked to wrestle with her. She will “husky” talk to us about her needs or just to talk. She will lay her head in our lap to get our attention. We miss her being happy.
Due to this sudden expense after a couple recent expenses (clutch on car went out and two sets of stitches), we need some help. The enucleation surgery is estimated to cost $1900 at one place and then $1341 at another vet. Please help us help Kaya if you can!
