About this campaign

My darling, handsome boy had a rough start in life. He was found, by my nephew, in a cardboard box, with his litter mates, dumped on the beach in Oahu. My nephew kept him for several years, before tiring of Keiki. He abandoned this sweet boy at his mother's house where I was living for awhile. I fell in love with Keiki, advocated for his care & took him to live with me in my senior apartment.

Keiki is my soulmate. We are so connected and never apart. I've always loved animals, but hadn't had a pet since my childhood dog in the 1970's. I felt I could never afford the costs. Keiki was unwanted and left twice in his life & never shown the love he deserved. I love him so deeply. He has filled a huge void in my lonely life left by the passing of my parents. Those I loved most are long gone

My handsome boy is docile and would never hurt anyone. He is also personality plus, funny, quirky, still likes the laser light. He loves to look out my small apartment window and chatters when he sees a bird. I ask him "did you see the bird today?" and he goes right over to the window. He feels my emotions. When I was crying about a week ago over his recent health scare, he put his paw on my hand.

Keiki has chronic kidney disease, which is a sad epidemic in cats. He also has hyperthyroidism which he has taken medicine for since diagnosed in 2019. That is under control, but the kidney disease progressed this summer after being fairly stable for a few years. Sept 1st he had blood in his urine. Vet said inflammation of the kidneys. Since then his reduced appetite has caused weight loss.

I am a retired, radio DJ, San Francisco, Seattle. My radio work went away during the pandemic. I have a small pension/soc security. I loved entertaining for years and now need help. I cannot bear the thought of losing Keiki. My vet says he still has life left in him.
