Kenai is a 5 year old Mix-Breed in Madras, OR, who needs $2,000 for TPLO Surgery for Torn ACL.

Kenai was abandoned on the reservation where I worked. We brought him home and our son who was 8 at the time fell in love with him. They have been inseparable ever since. Kenai has been with us for over 5 years now and has become a member of our family. He loves our cats. My son named Kenai after the movie Brother Bear and our connection to Alaska.

Almost two weeks ago now, Kenai went to run and tore his ACL. He hasn't been able to put weight on it since. We took Kenai to the vet as soon as it happened. But unfortunately due to his size he isn't a good candidate for the procedure our local vets can do. He needs a TPLO surgery to fix the torn ACL, however, due our location these are far and few between, and the appointments are even further.

Kenai loves my son, he loves us all, but him and my son are inseparable. Kenai also loves our oldest cat. He worries about her and tries to take care of her. Kenai LOVES to talk... too much almost. He will tell stories all day long. I can really get him going and talking with me. He loves to play in the sprinklers, we love telling him to get them because he makes the funniest sounds.

We were not prepared for this type of financial burden. With summer hitting, I will hopefully able to get unemployment until work starts back up in the fall. But that is uncertain at this time. Kenai goes everywhere with us so this is devastating to tell him he can't now.
