We got Kevin as a gift for my daughter’s tenth birthday. She had been asking for a dog for years and we decided she was ready. She picked him out and named him after a meme she saw of a dog wearing a giraffe hat whose name was Kevin. she actually calls him poopie because everything gives him diarrhea.

Kevin has loads of energy despite his heart defect and loves to play fetch. His favorite thing to do at home is to steal your socks and prance back n forth in front of you until you try to catch him. When he ‘s tired he normally will lay on my daughters feet before systematically testing out every potential sleeping spot throughout the night

At Kevins first vet appointment they told us he had a pretty substantial heart murmur, four out of five. This turned out to be a patent ductus arteriosus which needs to be corrected with surgery. The good thing is once it’s fixed is done it’s not something that will reoccur which is wonderful and his symptoms should go away quickly after surgery

Kevin surgery is normally $7000. The vet I am going to says he will charge no more than $4000 but as I live paycheck to paycheck it’s proving a little difficult to get the money together before his heart is permanently damaged
