Khloe is a 11-year-old Black Lab mix in Oak Park, MI, who needs $2,000 for a torn CCL repair.

Khloe is an 11-year-old Black Lab mix that came into our life as a puppy from the Atlanta Humane Society. We raised her in our family home for 10 years along with 2 other dogs, Maddox and Fargo, until some fighting began ensuing between them and a dog trainer suggested that we separate one of them. Thus, Khloe was given to me "for a few weeks" (read: 8 months and counting) and we've been inseparable.

In August, I brought Khloe with me on my move to Detroit for my first job teaching at a school! She is the talk of the town; neighbors bring their kids over, elderly folks spend time with her, and I even bring her to school as a treat for my students. She has captured the hearts of the Oak Park community and it pains them to see her hobbling around on one leg :( Many anxiously await her recover

I'm in the first months of my first job, and I don't have the flexibility to expend $2,800. Between Khloe & I, we know LOTS of caring people and I'm hopeful we can all pitch in to get her back to health, and making children laugh :)

After a sudden dash across the park a few weeks ago to chase a rogue squirrel, Khloe returned limping and in pain. After some bouncing around to vets, Dr. Wright at Gasow Animal Hospital confirmed that she has a partial tear in her CCL and needs surgery. Fortunately, he has done 7000+ of these procedures during his 50 years as a veterinary orthopedist. It's a common procedure with high success.

As you can see, Khloe wears her heart on her tongue. No, seriously, her tongue is out 80% of the day. People love to come and touch it while she vainly attempts to retract it. She's known for being off-leash yet never wandering more than 6 feet from her (devilishly handsome) owner. Her weakness is Michigan's black squirrels, who taunt her and ultimately led to the tear of her ACL ligament :(
