About this campaign
My first dog passed away 2 years ago. She was my daughter’s best friend. My daughter has been working so hard to show us she was responsible enough to help with a puppy. After a few months of looking we found our golden retriever Kira. My daughter fell in love instantly. So helpful with anything for her. A new best friend to enjoy life with.
We had Kira for such a short time but she already brightened our lives. Teaching her how to use a pee pad for the apartment and sleeping in her crate. But we of course spoiled her already and she slept in our arms most of the time.
Kira was my daughter’s first real responsibility but in the way she could be proud of something. Teaching her to sit or walking with the leash. All those little accomplishments. She learned to love our first dogs rope toy. That made us feel like they were connecting.
On day two with our new family member she started puking. I took her immediately to the nearest vet and found out she tested positive for PARVO. Every puppy owners worst nightmare. We decided to hospitalize that first night. She was better after a day of treatment so we decided to treat her at home. After 2 days we couldn’t get the puking to stop so we opted to take her back to the hospital.
We are doing everything to keep her alive but the cost to keep her in treatment has gone over our savings. I also took out a pet care loan for $5000. We have only so much time paid for. She needs more time there to really make sure she pulls through.
