About this campaign
My sister and I feed the cats in the neighborhood who were abandoned when their so called families moved away. We socialize them and try to find them homes or work with POPP to find a home.
We had been trying to catch Louie for a few months, but he was always too scared to let us get closer than a pet on the head.
One night we saw Louie collapsed on our front doorstep. He was so thin you could count his ribs and see his spine. He was filthy, covered in fleas and had a belly full of worms. It took us weeks to get him stronger. During this time, King Louie emerged. He made rounds around the house as if he had always lived here and owned the place. Also a loving soul emerged. Louie for as starved as he was, would pass up food for a cuddle. He was a non-stop lap cat. He wants to be where the action is so will follow us around the house; in the kitchen when we are there and commanding my sister's lounge chair in the living room as his very own throne. He sleeps with my sister every night and during the day when we nap. There is always 15 minutes of love time before he settles into sleep.
Louie has become best friends with our rescue dog, Esmeralda. He follows her and loves to give her head boops. His favorite thing to do is wash Esmeralda's ears whether she needs them cleaned or not!
I love Louie with everything I've got. In the time we have had him in our home, he has become an integral member of the family. When we had him neutered, the house was empty and incomplete until he came home. He waits at the slider when we go out back to take Esmeralda potty. He sits at the front door and waits for us when we go out to feed the birds, but Louie has no desire to return to the outdoors. He goes no further than the door which is fine with us. All our fur babies are exclusively indoors.
Louie is my fur baby and I am not ashamed to say it. I love him so much and it would kill me to surrender him. I can't allow him to suffer with his painful mouth but I have to try everything to cure his mouth and let him stay with me for the rest of his days.
