About this campaign
I rescued Kitty off the freeway 6 years ago. She was a tiny kitten struggling on the shoulder of the freeway. I got out picked her up and she had a broken leg. With her tiny cast she recovered fully, and while a little spicy at times is so loving and caring. My dog has dementia and she’s so patient with him, and she has been so loving and wonderful to all who interact with her.
She’s always been a little spicy but she has a big heart. She is always looking for love, but also super independent. If she comes up to you, you know she liked you. I sleep on my side and she sleeps on me for most of the night, purring and kneading away.
She survived walking on the freeway on a broken leg. She deserves a longer life. I’ve never heard a cat purr so loud when eating, she fits right in with the family.
Kitty was diagnosed with soft cell sarcoma this week, and in order to remove it it’s going to take surgery, at a cost that I don’t have at the moment. I recently started a new job working with adults with intellectual disabilities, and this cost was shocking. She’s being treated at Belmont Shore Animal Hospital by the vets there, and they’re so kind, but they can’t wiggle out of the cost.
I am in a new career, I was teaching previously and now I work with adults and kids with intellectual disabilities. I am making less than I was teaching, and the cost is too much. This cat and I have bonded, she means the world to me, I just can’t lose her now.
