About this campaign
My sweet boy found me one morning, about 2 years ago, on my front porch. He was sweet and in pain from an apparent eye injury. Having always had a deep love for animals, I took him to the vet immediately where he was treated for his injury but diagnosed with a mouth disease called Stomatitis. Constant pain, difficulty eating, & several months of antibiotic treatments has led us to this point.
Kitty prefers to sleep in my bed or in a cozy corner spot on the desk. I am "Momma" to Kitty's 4 adoptive brothers and sisters. His condition makes it difficult for him to play or interact much with them. He does love meal time and comes quickly when he hears the food being prepared. He is on a mostly soft diet of wet food mixed with small bits of dry food.
I have been working steadily for more than 20 years but my income is not enough to afford much more than supporting myself and basic care for my furry babies. This treatment won't cure him but it will give him relief.
Feline Stomatitis is a disease of the mouth which causes ulcers, inflammation, and infection. It causes loss of gum tissue and plagues the nerves in the mouth and teeth causing constant pain and difficulty chewing and swallowing. Dr. Bonnie Bloom at I-20 Animal Medical Center in Arlington, Texas is his treating vet. The procedure will involve removing infected teeth.
The first time he received his steroid/antibiotic treatment at the vet, I knew the instant he felt better because he started licking my hand as if to thank me. This procedure can improve his quality of life and give him a chance to live as a normal, fun-loving, cat again. It won't give him back the years of suffering but it can make him healthier and happier.
