About this campaign

Koda came into our life 6 years ago when we adopted him from a breeder near Central Ohio, where we live. We named him Koda because it means little bear and when he was a puppy he was built like a small fluffy bear cub. Since his adoption we have had two children, a three year old who is his best buddy, and a newborn, who Koda loves to watch over and protect.

Koda has tumors on his lip that are amelonatic melanoma that appeared only a couple months ago. We have taken him to Ohio State Veterinary hospital to explore our options to extend his time with us and he would need extensive surgery, chemo, and radiation for treatment.

Koda is full of love, a brave adventurer and outdoor explorer of the outdoors, and an excellent swimmer and retriever. He is as strong as an ox but also a gentle giant who lets our three year old climb all over him and occasionally try to ride him like a horse. He is a great protector and guardian of our house and uses his loud bark as a warning, even sometimes at squirrels entering our yard.

I was laid off earlier this year and am currently in between jobs. My wife works full time but is currently on maternity leave because we just had our second child a month ago. We are looking for assistance in this challenging time while I am in between jobs.
